Our Story
It all started with a love for cooking for family and friends. Growing up, I was blessed to be surrounded by delicious foods and baked goods. My mother Alice was amazing at throwing any recipe together and creating new meals for us to enjoy. All of her children always had the best cakes and baked goods for every holiday and birthday. Naturally, watching her passion and enjoyment had then become a part of me.
Back in 2012, my mother and I started an all-natural dog treat company by the name of Bone Appetit Barkery. Anyone who knew my mother, knew how much she loved dogs. We wholesaled our products to over 64 retail locations. After a couple of years, we had decided that we would love to start a gluten-free company so that the gluten-free community had delicious options. That’s when Mad Batters Pastries was born! Mad Batters wholesales their gluten-free baked goods all over the Hudson Valley and you can also grab most options at our store on 44 in Highland.
Unfortunately, we have since lost Alice back in 2019 to a long battle with cancer. She was the lifeblood to our company, and everyone loved and still loves her. Most of our recipes were created by her and she is in every aspect of what we do here at The Baker’s Tale and Mad Batters. Kristin decided to open The Baker’s Tale to honor her mother and to continue the dream of providing handmade, delicious baked goods for all to enjoy. From hand laminated croissants, sourdough breads, apple turnovers and more, there’s surely something for everyone!
We want to thank each and every one of you for helping make our dreams come true and by supporting local. Thank you for trusting us for your dessert and baked goods needs. We love seeing you smile and hope you enjoy our pastries as much as we enjoyed making them for you.
With love,
Kristin Bell and team
